Rippers- The Secret Growing in the Wild Garden

In China:

Abigale hears from Evan Harris there are mumblings of unrest. Natives are wanting all non-Asians out of the region. (This is also a way to get rid of the Cabal). Oriental myths and demons don’t want the Cabal either.

Abigale sent letters to Dr. Shelton in the US inquiring about the situation since the group left and asking if there was any more news of her husband. Shelton does not receive the letters, but a man named Augustus Garth has been writing back. He tells us that 17 people died in the church fire, including one who was ripped in half. He also said that last he heard, her husband was heading for New Orleans, confirming her suspicion that he is still alive.

Per Allen’s request, the group agrees to travel to Chile to find a Timon Suarez to help cure his mysterious disease.

On the way there in the dirigible, we see another ship in a black cloud flying toward us. It dissipates as it nears.

Dyana hears that a man named Lazlo Kurtz has been doing ocular transplants and may be able to help her.

We arrive in South America as it gets dark. Dyana’s falcon, Kydra, is sent to Suarez’s village and sees that it is overgrown and deserted, except for four bandits on the road between the town and the village.

Townsfolk say they last saw Suarez a month ago.

In the morning, we fly to the village. Everyone but Vander goes to the ground to knock on the door of the main house. There is a large, lush and beautiful garden, that is a corral around the back and sides of the house. It is somewhat overgrown, as well. Several buildings in town have been burned or have gigantic holes in the sides of them.

When we knock, there is no answer, so we start to go inside. Three vines start coming out of the house after us. Vander shoots two, Abigale kills one, and then we bomb the structure.

Allen's neck veins pop out and look like they're pulsing with green stuff. Ew.

We go next to another large building, apparently an old inn. Inside are 12 female villagers, who begin to scream and rush to attack us. We attack back, Vander shoots with his rifle from the air. One villager dies. We realize they have vines coming out of them that appear to be controlling them. Some of the women seem reluctant to attack, but unable to stop. So instead, we shoot at the vines. When damaged, the women drop to the ground and the vines shrivel up.

After helping the women out of the building, they tell us they were attacked a month ago and the vines attached themselves to everyone. They roamed around all day, feeding outsiders to a creature in the garden. They haven’t seen Suarez in two months.

Then we go to a huge barn with two corrals. There is a loft full of hay, and it appears the stalls have been recently used.

Then we moved on to the next building. As we’re walking, a window shatters and a vine shoots out, grabs Will and sucks him inside. The the spot where Will was deflates, as if he disappeared. Then we hear a scream from the garden.

A glaze comes over Allen. From the windows of a building, vines reach out to grab Abigail. She shoots one and Vander shoots the other. Meanwhile, the garden begins to grow over and enclose over the middle. From the air, Vander shoots it with fire. The pods begin to grow. The leaves turn red, and smaller pods are launched at the ship. The pilot dodges. The pods continue to grow, but go back to being green.

In the garden, Will sees a man-creature carved out of wood. He seriously damages it.

Vander shoots a hole in one of the garden walls, and it immediately grows over.

The house isn’t overgrown, so Abigail and Vander decide to go that way. Once in the foyer, they go in the left door -- it’s a kitchen with a door to the patio. No plot hook here. So they go in the right door instead. It’s a den or library. Inside is an old man’s corpse. It has a ring with initials T.S. One ring falls off his hand (the TS one), and glows slightly. The other one, when you rub it, the gold comes off.

It’s green metal. Plants around TS are growing towards the body like sunflowers. Abigail takes the rings and puts them on.

We go outside into a clearing. It’s a wide dome with purple flowers. We see two humanoid shapes on the far side. We also see Will with the wooden creature. (He was a turncoat). Four more creatures emerge. Abigail’s ring glows, and it gets darker around us. Casey and the wooden guy start to grow, as do the creatures. We begin combat. In combat, a cloud of stinky spores comes over Abigail, Vander and Lackey. Abigail passes out. There’s more fighting, and we finally kill the creatures.

The earth starts shaking. We grab the chest and the two flowers that were making the ring glow, along with a knobby stick and a robe. We fed Casey (Allen) some of the flowers, and his green pallor begins to subside.

After Abigail takes off the green ring, her eyes are black, rimmed in green like Allen’s were. We save a flower for Abigail. 1

RIppers - The Secret Page of the Yellow King

After catching the Nautilus, Freddie, Vander, Dyana, and Randall were invited to a celebration in their honor the spent the day shopping for formal wear and interesting stories or gossip. The others Will, Abigale, and Allan, caught up with them. Randall heard a rumor while searching for a legendary sword, that young girls were being kidnapped in China. Allan was getting sicker and sicker, and Freddie was nowhere to be found. During the Party everybody was hobnobbing. Abigail met a Captain who was also in the Rippers he had been trying to get some backing for another lodge, in China. Vander was irritating some Asian by speaking nothing but German to his guests. Allan made interesting time with a Clothing and Textle Hieress Lydia Hamilton. Will and Randall were keeping and eye out on the crowd.

During the Night the heard about a new play called "The King in Yellow", everyone they talked to couldn't wait to see the play. The groups newest member Jack started reading the book. After reading the final sentence a black sphere opened into the room and Jack was sucked into the Darkness,

The group was pulled in to the void of the King in Yellow. After a fast battle, the groups killed the king but without his presence the place started to dissolve. The Group made to the portal before it closed.

RIppers - The Secret Finale of the Demonic Diva

Players
Frederick Garrett
Allen Tedwyck

After being in Chicago for a couple of weeks Allen started having a nagging cough, he went to Dr. Garrett to get a Diagnosis. The two found out about each other. The Doctor deduced that it might have something to do with a trip in South America
Allen got in touch with some friends from Harvard and was invited to a Opera. Freddie got a summons to the Opera, the conductor got a deep cut and it was healed by a successful heal check with multiple raises (the new guy rolled a 21). The House manager gave garret two tickets to tonight’s performance of Isabella Corobella.
The two men passed each other in the lobby of the theater, but Freddie got tied up with his nurse (fell face first into the nurse’s bosom (Oops, someone rolled a one). During the performance, the Freddie was so enthralled with the Diva the he didn't notice that his date had gotten up and left. (Man, did they need Abigale for this one)

The two men both finally noticed that there were significantly less women than men. The Stage Manager announced that there would be a party for the diva at the Ambassador Hotel Ballroom. Freddie went to find his nurse but she was not around, so he headed back to the party. (Look around guys). While at the party Allen mingled with several prominent member s of Chicago society. All of them were trying to find the Diva and did have anything else on there mind until someone found a desiccated body which turn out to be a friend of one of Allen’s friends
Freddie and Allen finally bumped into each other.
Allen scanned the crowd to see if there was anyone looking suspicious. One of the girls from the chorus ran out the room to another room. Freddie decided to try again leave, not for lack of company from several other chorus girls. Once he could not be dissuaded the girls jumped both of them.
The girls grabbed the both them and herded into another room. The pair found themselves in front of the Diva Isabella looking definitely demonic. She was sitting atop a mound of female demons and men. She let them know that she wanted them to be part of her little entourage.

Allen remember that he kept his small revolver and unloaded it and was able to wound the Succubus Prime (adventure card Bulls-eye and 32 points of damage). Freddie also noticed that the Succubus Prime and the underlings were connected in health some how. While trying to figure out what to do Allen remembered also the he found a relic from the church in Leadfall, a Martyr’s Cross. While keeping the Underlings at bay Allen drew his knife. Allen managed to jump on the Succubus’s back and stab scoring a knock out blow. After dealing with the monster, the pair rounded up the survivors; one of was the Mayor (And another amazing roll of 21 for Healing). Allen and Fred both left the Hotel and went and had a drink. Allen then got Fred up to speed and decided to build a Lodge here in the Windy City.

Rippers - The Secret Path of the Corrupt

The group made their way across the Atlantic and settle a small town of Chattanooga, Tennessee. We catch we the group after the had solved a mystery of a haunted railroad tunnel.

After Abigale and Will were finished recuperating, the group was given a tour for Professor Shelton’s Mansion. Allan worked out in the training Facilities, with one of Shelton’s servants (roleplaying his advance in Fighting). Will and Abigale spent some time improving their Guts by Henri the Chef cooking up exotic foods with monster parts (bat wings and ghoul eyes). Abigale also ventured into the library and read up on the Rippers and the Cabal. In talking to Shelton, she also found out that her husband was seen in the area supposedly after his reported death.

Pastor Melvin Turvis called the group. He was a preacher at Lindsay Street Church. He told a story of how the janitor was attacked. Upon examination by Babby (Abigale’s nickname given to her by her husband), the janitor had scores of insect bites on his legs, chest, and arms. The party went to the church and started to look down in the basement. There was a Professor of Religion that was also learning more about the church independently from the group.

The party was shown the cellar where the attack happened, and saw three 12-inch beetle-like creatures scurry around. The groups made very quick work of them, afterward the floor started to creak and suddenly the floor sank. The Rippers were surround by many clicking jaws, many times larger than the ones they recently fought. They fought there way to a rope the Professor lowered and all but Julian made it out he was torn to piece by the bugs. The group lit some explosives and brought down the church killing many worshipers.

Rippers - The Secret Life of The Lady Saint

Here is another tale of Rippers. I wanted to posted even though they did not finish it. I thought they did pretty good. It was recount by Sara the player of Abigale Harvey. Forgive my lack of knowledge of England and the church.

Ezekiel, two hired guns and I go to find Gloria Manning, the missing female vicar. She is described as headstrong and very outspoken for the equality of women in the church. She has been missing two weeks. We go to the county of Newport, where she was last serving. We meet Patrick Trent, the constable of Newport, who has been investigating the Disappearance. He has made no progress. He tells us Gloria’s family has been notified, but they live far away. He is suspicious after questioning us (we tell him we’re with the church following Gloria’s progress, but didn’t know she was missing). Trent directs us to an inn for the evening.

Marcus O’Rear is the associate pastor sent to take over Mass for the missing Gloria. We don’t meet him yet, but he is staying in the parsonage where Gloria lived. Trent tells us O’Rear wasn’t thrilled that Gloria was a woman. Emily Stansfield was Gloria’s assistant, and was the last to see her. The inn is owned by Arnold Fiske and his wife, whose first name I forgot to write down. We notice a familiar name in the register of hotel guests: Darrin Chambers. We go down to dinner, and after ordering and getting our water, I notice our drinks have been poisoned. Mrs. Fiske was the Person who took our order and delivered our water. At this point, the only person we’ve told of our reason for visiting has been the constable. However, four men at a nearby table are heard complaining about women and are looking in our direction. They obviously know why we’re here. The come over to confront us, and a fight ensues. The other people sitting alone at various other tables leave, and Mrs. Fiske stays back from the fight. One man is killed, two others injured and one runs away (getting into a car, we believe.) The constable comes as the townspeople blame us for starting the fight and accuse us of murder. The constable appears to be on our side, and takes us to the courthouse. He locks us in a room, and we are poisoned with gas.

Rippers

First up is my Rippers Game. I kind of went another way with the setting. I started then in traditional manner in Jolly ole England. It is still turn of the century, but in centered in North America. Specifically, the South. Here is the summary of our first tale.

The party consisted of Julian Von Braun a retired gentleman of leisure cough*thief (think Sean Connery from Entrapment), Amos "McGrumpy"(He never smiles) McDowell, A woodsman and guide from East Europe, Abigale Harvey, a female Detective, and Shepherd Ezekiel Solomon, an evangelist.

The group answered invitations to meet a group called the Seer society, most think that it was a simple social event.

Abigale spent most of the evening trying to drum up some high-class clients. The only cases she is getting are missing person, and crimes against women. While she is passionate about helping the least fortunate she has bills. Amos blundered and asked about the arsenal. A slight looking man walked up to him, shook his hand (nearly crushing it) and told him “All in good time”. Shepherd simply listed to the religious conversations, and overheard something about attacks in Nice, France. Julian could not resist and swiped a silver place setting from the table and collected a few marks (Yeah, this is going to be fun).

After leaving the party the four walk to their lodge and was met the old woman walking with her grandson.

The group was stunned for a while and the grandson took off only to be killed by the Hyde. The Hyde survived the first shot from Amos’ shotgun (you should have seen Amos’ jaw drop). Shepherd used the Deflection power Guardian Angel to try and protect himself as he joined the fight. The Hyde ran up, grabbed Amos while was reloading, and threw him into the preacher. Knocking him to the side. They eventually killed the creature and Shepherd fast-talk his way out of trouble with the Bobbies. When they searched the body pick up the note there was also a gold medal that fell off the body of the Hyde. 1
