Deadlands - Raid on Fort 51

I went ahead and ran the area 51 game this week and it went pretty good.
We had Alexander who was a huckster in the Doc Holliday mold, we had Angela who was a teamster, we had Tachi who was a wandering swordsman, Pei Pei who was a saloon owner and a martial artist also and Grace who was a Blessed midwife.
It started with them in the town of Rachel, Nevada and it was business as usual for the small boomtown except that there has been a rise in visitors here because of rumors that something valuable is being stored at the Union fort near here. They all met at Pei Pei's saloon called the "Snakehole" when all the sudden shots rang out and in the middle of town, there was a lynch mob forming around two people in black and a faintly glowing female a fight ensued Pei Pei's martial arts didn't work quite right "s she rolled a one on her martial arts blast power and pretty much they love fist of fury to herself. There was a minor backlash with Alexander's obscure power and he wound up losing a part of his soul to a Manitou(definitely going to use that a plot later).
After they finish the fight one of the men in black was the ground dead (and he curiously looked like Chris Hemsworth)and Agent T (yeah it was Tessa Thompson from MiB international) was lost trying to figure out a way to get the woman, she was protecting back home to Fort 51. Agent T asked the heroes to help to get the mysterious glowing woman to the fort even though it is surrounded by onlookers and the potential for people the try and raid it because of a rumor that there are treasures located within the walls of the fort.
That night they on their way to the Fort they sneak by some of the people gathered getting ready to raid the outpost but they are seen going in and they inadvertently start the people to run and raid the Fort. they try to outrun them with Angela's teamster skill but are inadvertently knocked out because of the fort's defenses.
The group wakes up inside the horde to the rumblings of something attacking the Fort's walls I can have shocked the people at the table bowed banging my Sis on the table quite when people were the chatter I was starting to get a little bit out of character a look around seeing some of the holes in the walls they see out into the light they see streaks of light in the skies and beams of light hitting groups of attackers they come to realize that it was the "Flying Buffaloes", the last remnants of the soldiers that are protecting the fort and all its secrets. Agent T tasks the group to getting the woman safely to Room 12B she gives them the directions as she NEEDED TO SEE IF THERE ARE ANY SURVIVORS TO HELP REPEL THE ATTACK need to see if there are any survivors to help repel the attack. The heroes find nothing but a few dead agents and guess everybody else is outside trying to turn back the attackers.
Tried to find their way yes through the 4 with mishaps and lock doors to come across the corridor do what they feel is the way to 12b as they enter the hallway it's rather a long rectangular passageway with mirrors on each wall as they travel into the Room they realized that the doors locked behind them and a beam of light go from one mirrored wall to the other (a la the laser scene and Resident Evil, yeah I had to put a trap in) after a few Agility checks and lots of Bennies thrown around they make it through the trap and into the 12B Room, the Sending Grid. The posse now sees the woman, who is fully glowing now they see her shed her western garments and reveal to have sharp pointy elf-like ears she starts chanting and activates the grid and a portal opens up to a grassland. As they are trying to figure what to do an explosion from outside breaches the wall and destroys the control circuits of the sending grid and causing imminent destruction.
Instead of letting the female just go through the portal. I thought they would just try to sneak out and secure escape. I thought they would leave out through the breach. NOPE, THEY GO AHEAD AND FOLLOW HER THROUGH. They go through the portal and come to a strange land much different than the South West United States in the mid 19th century but with one interesting fact in the distance, there is a dragon flying towards them(I am not a good horror GM, so I'm going to go fantasy).
I thought it was a good one-shot, the group had a great time and it opens the story up for continuation. Thanks for all y'all suggestions and I hope to continue this more.

Thanksgiving Idea

So I have been reading a meme about Thanksgiving and it got wondering about a one Holiday game.  Basically it talks about how it is impossible to get a recipe from an old black woman (I can attest to this trying to get my own mother’s recipe for pound cake).  The scenario is that the group has to put away a big bad and they know of a concoction that will put him away.  The only thing is that a stubborn, old woman won’t give up the recipe without something in exchange for it.  It is up to the group to find the correct enticement for her and save the day in time.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours. Peace!!!

Solomon Kane in the Motherland!!!

I've got an idea for a new Twist on the Savage worlds setting for Solomon Kane. It takes place in deepest darkest Africa but the players and the world is guarded by a Black Panther. I know Robert E Howard set a lot of Solomon  Kane's adventures in Africa but I would kind of like to see a native take on the story. It would definitely take some inspiration from Nyambe the D20 setting of a fantasy Africa. I'm bad at writing things down so hopefully it won't take a year before I update.

Making East Texas University more in my style.

One of my groups want me to do a game, so I decided to restart our East Texas University game.  I did have it as a start version of the setting but on the restart I think I will make it a rival school set in a fictional Southeastern city more along the lines of Atlanta.  I told my girlfriend about it and School Daze and A Different World came up.

One of the things as a roleplayer and a GM, I always try to do is inset some of my own culture and in my games.   I cant wait to see what will happen as we deal with sinister plots and study groups in ETU.

I am going to try and get start up adventure called "Suspense at the Step Show"

Spirit of '77 - The King has left the Building!!

I ran a second game of Spirit of '77 a funky over the top version of the '70s.  The setting used the Apocalypse World Engine with most of the rolls done by the PCs with two six-sided dice.  It is very story-driven and I thought very fun. I have been trying for a while to steer my groups to an alternative setting than just your average Medieval European fantasy game. Most of us grew u playing D & D but I was looking for something else.

The players were at the airport for various reason and they interacted for a while then everyone heard machine-gun fire and saw black helicopters.  After dispatching the attackers and saving the passengers and cargo from the plane they meet late at a bar called the SuckaPunch.

Possible new Witch for the Coven in Accursed

I hope everyone had a great holiday.  I got to thinking what better way to think about Christmas that with Monsters.

For the Christmas season I wanted to find a good one shot to run for my groups.  I have always like the Accursed setting and the theme of Monster on the side of good.  I found a article about Christmas monster and used it for my starting point.  It listed an giant ogress named Gryla, and I thought this was a great mysterious member of the Coven.  The wiki mentions that she comes to the villages and towns and takes all the naughty children and cooks them in stews.  In my version what if she just kidnaps them and transforms them into creatures to do her bidding.

I need to come up with some banes and a Witchbreed to be associated with Gryla, but to honest I'm going to wing it anyway.

Happy Holidays everyone!!!

The Black Jury

Robin Delaney cursed at the phone.  “Seriously?!?!” She looked at the receiver as though it would somehow answer her unspoken questions.  She was an award winning reporter in her old marker and now she was stonewalled by some insignificant idiot clerk who won’t ever give her the time of day.
She looked down at the folder on her desk and wondered why the stall.  She had talked to the DA; they told her to talk to the Jail. She talked to them, they said look to the Clerk’s Office.
There was just a picture and some of her hand written notes.  The picture was of a white balding man of 35 named Peter McIntosh.  The face was of someone so removed from where he was at, you would have thought he was looking at the world through a telescope.  The face in the mug shot showed no feeling.
“Delany, Where are we on the McIntosh thing!?!?!”  The booming baritone voice of Editor Harry Tanner shook her back into reality.
“I’m getting nothing from the courts buy I will have something soon.”
“You better”, he yelled
“Everyone down there is tight lipped about it.”
“Then go down there and talk to someone face to face.  That’s how they do it here.”
Robin gathered up her things and head for the door.  Outside, as she was groping for her keys she heard someone calling and running behind her.
I heard Tanner about McIntosh,” The redhead strained slightly out of breath, “So I guess no lunch what about drinks after.
“Sorry Indira, but yeah I meet you at”
“Here take this,” Indira handed Robin post-it note with a name and a number on it. “it’s a guy I know down there”
Robin looked the redhead up and down.
No!!! We are just friends.”
She looked at the slip it read, “Nick Garrett, Deputy Clerk”
Robin walked into the Clerk’s office. There were a couple of clerks waiting, looking at her .  A cold shiver crawled up her spine as she felt like a hundred spiders were watching the little fly that just walked into their web.  Only one did not make her feel as if she did meet up some checklist.  The dark-skinned man rose asked Robin if she needed any help.  She read the name across his chest and it said “N. Garrett”. Robin inwardly smiled.
She leaned on the counter and in her best “tired of running around” voice said, “I’m trying to find the indictment on Peter McIntosh”
If you have some information you probably need to go to the DA who gave it to you, and they are in the Grand Jury, we don’t have any information on that case here.
She left in a huff, looking for something to hit.  As she looked around she spied on the second floor the door to the Grand Jury room.
She could hear something coming from the hallway.  She looked and there was light creeping in from the bottom of the door.
In the dim glow of the light coming from the sconces on the wall, she saw a group of people seated in a semicircle all in robes like judges except with hoods and two other individuals talking and gesturing over someone in a cage.  Delaney stared and it was McIntosh, or at least it looked like him.  When one of the people would point and speak to McIntosh his features would contort and become for lack of a better word…
Evil
The center robed figure pointed and said, “We find you guilty of crimes against humanity and it is the ruling of the group finding McIntosh writhed, jerked from side to side and screamed something that sounded like Latin.  Then a swirling cloud of darkness enveloped the man and in a flash McIntosh was gone.
Delaney stood astounded and still trying to understand what she just saw.  When a hand firmly gripped her shoulder and a voice the sounded like rocks in a cement mixer said, “Well missy I think there are a few people who would like to talk to you.”

Then the lights went out.
